Beaches

The four beaches in St Agnes are Chapel Porth, Trevellas Porth, Porthtowan and Trevaunance Cove, (which is also known as Aggie Beach). Each has its own unique character and variety of attractions.

Chapel Porth is most accessible at low tide when you can walk for miles and even to the next beach, Porthtowan. Chapel Porth has a Beach Café offering superb snacks and refreshments, a National Trust car park, and a seasonal Lifeguard service. Cliff walks from here lead back towards St Agnes and across toward Porthtowan or inland through the valley to Mingoose and Towan Cross.

Nearby Trevaunance Cove also offers plenty of parking, shops and a restaurant overlooking the beach, which also has a Lifeguard service.

Further along the coast is Trevellas Porth. Parking is limited, but there are extensive cliff walks following the Coast Path as well as inland, along the enchanting Jericho Valley. The beach at Trevellas Porth is mainly pebble and swimming is not recommended, as there is no Lifeguard service. However, when the sea is calm, Trevellas offers good snorkelling and fishing.

Porthtowan is a great surfing beach, hosting a number of annual surf competitions each summer. There is plenty of parking close to the beach and a selection of shops, bars and cafés.
